President Obama’s connection to Nigeria: In-law married to an Igbo woman
A Nigerian woman of Igbo extraction is married to the older brother of Michelle Obama, Nomenee Robison. Michelle Obama is the wife of the first black President of the United States of America, Barack Obama. This was reported in the New York Times, in the article written by Judi Kantor titled, A Portrait of Change. According to the New York Times piece, “The family that produced Barack and Michelle Obama is black and white and Asian, Christian, Muslim and Jewish. They speak English; Indonesian; French; Cantonese; German; Hebrew; African languages including Swahili, Luo and Igbo. Nomenee Robinson was an early participant in the Peace Corps, serving in India for two years; later, he moved to Nigeria, where he met his wife; the couple now live in Chicago.”
