As a minority South African, I do not have a problem with Mandela being put on our currency notes. He has done much for the country and deserved to be honoured and respected.
But the country has to be very careful on this new uncharted waters. This means that henceforth that any living hero may be on the rand when they are still alive.
Another issue is that many leaders may be starting lobbying to be placed on rand. That will reduce the dignity of being honoured in this way.

    Thanks Afripol.
